Community Centre

Lamagon village’s Community Centre was established in 2008 as a space for community activities, learning and as a medical centre. Since its completion it is now provides people with much needed local access to a doctor and medicines, whereas before villagers had to travel to Pharping or even Kathmandu to seek medical advice.

The Community Centre provides a space for groups in the village to meet, such as:

  • the Emergency and Rescue Team who train for dealing with emergency situations as there are no state provided emergency services in the village
  • The Lamagaon Youth Group who come together to learn vocational skills such as driving and using computers but also to play football
  • The Rubbish Collecting Group who go around and clean up the village once a week and try to instil an ethos of a tidy environment into villagers
The Community Centre is also a space for lots of activities, including arts and crafts and learning new skills for people in Lamagaon.
